Several of our therapists utilize emotional support dogs in their sessions. We understand that not everyone cares to have an animal assist in their sessions. If this is the case, every effort will be made to increase your comfort and have the animal moved to the back of the room. We can also refer you to another therapist in the office who does not use animals in their sessions.
You can meet the dogs of DTS here.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy is a modern and popular form of psychotherapy which has been extensively researched and proven to be effective in treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic disorders, and other distressing life experiences. EMDR involves bilateral stimulation, a mechanism that allows individuals to process a negative thought, emotion, or memory in an innovative and completely different way than in traditional talk therapy.
Many of the therapists at Dallas Therapeutic Services are trained in EMDR and are well-equipped to provide this effective form of treatment to their clients. DTS is able to provide EMDR virtually via telehealth as well as in person. Please contact our office if you are interested in scheduling a session with one of our EMDR-trained specialists.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a specialized form of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) specifically designed to treat Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders. ERP helps individuals face their fears and obsessions head-on, while preventing the usual compulsive responses. ERP is widely regarded as the gold standard in OCD treatment, with extensive research demonstrating its success. This evidence-based approach empowers clients to break free from the cycle of OCD and regain control over their lives.

Interested in Play Therapy? So are we! Traditional talk therapy may not always be the most effective form of therapy for children. That’s why we have therapists trained to utilize other kid-friendly tools to better interact with the particular needs of this young age group.
Play therapy is a powerful therapeutic approach designed to help children express their feelings, process their experiences, and develop essential coping skills. Through the medium of play, children can explore their emotions and resolve psychological challenges in a safe, supportive environment. Our skilled therapists use play therapy to address a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues.

At our practice, we understand that many individuals seek therapy to improve their relationships, whether with intimate partners or family members. While our insurance contracts may allow for the billing of relationship therapy under code 90847, most insurance companies don’t actually cover relationship therapy when the focus is on relationship issues. This is because relationship concerns often fall under 'Z codes,' which are used for life challenges rather than mental health disorders. Z codes aren’t typically reimbursable by insurance.
If the therapy is focused on treating one person’s mental health diagnosis, like anxiety or depression, insurance may cover the sessions. However, if the primary goal is to work on the relationship itself, insurance likely won’t cover it.
Please note, we cannot guarantee the diagnosis code that will be used until after your first session. Therefore, you should be prepared for the possibility that insurance may not cover relationship therapy, and you may need to pay our private pay rate.
