Natalie smith-low, lcsw-S, RYT
My name is Natalie Smith-Low, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor. I received my bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Texas at Austin and my master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. I started my clinical career working with children, adolescents, and families in a hospital setting. I later moved on to establish and develop an adolescent psychiatric intensive outpatient program for a major hospital system in Texas. Most recently, I have been working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team at Uptown Physicians Group in Dallas. As the therapist on staff, I provide counseling to patients presenting with symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, gender dysphoria, and generalized stress.
I specialize in working with all issues related to the LGBTQIA+ experience including work with individuals, couples, parents, adolescents, those seeking guidance in gender transition, and allies. I am trained in working with children aged 4-11 for play therapy, 11+ for individual therapy, and adults for couples therapy. My therapeutic approach is gentle, patient, and affirming. I also strive to provide a space that is validating, approachable, and collaborative. My clients have described me as easy to talk to with “excellent comedic timing” when appropriate, open-minded, and goal-oriented. I have received formal training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, play therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through the Beck Institute, am Gottman Level I & II trained, am Gender Asset trained, and am a CSTIP (certified sex therapy informed professional). In my sessions, I generally utilize CBT, DBT, and ACT.
I strongly believe that because we all have different strengths and values, recovery looks different for everyone. My job is not to tell clients what to do, but to assist clients in discovering, embodying, and utilizing their personal strengths to live a life in accordance with their values. My goal is to empower my clients to take ownership of their own healing and become the most authentic versions of themselves.
