My name is Catherine Mettauer. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Hendrix College and my Master of Social Work from University of Houston. Currently, I hold licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas. After earning my MSW, I worked as a case manager on the psychiatric response team for the Memorial Hermann hospital system for a number of years, and then transitioned into private practice.

Currently, I work with adults 18 and over and elders aged 65+. I utilize a mix of treatment modalities to ensure a good fit for clients. I have advanced training in the areas of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Person-Centered, Strengths-Based and Solution Focused Therapies. My specialties include working with infertility, perinatal and postpartum mental health, grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I enjoy working with trauma and relational issues (i.e., expectant/new parents, peer relationships, relationship issues, and family conflict) as well.

I take a structured approach tailored to the client’s goals and needs. I assign homework when the client is open to engaging in completing homework outside of session. My goal as a therapist is to guide those who are seeking meaning towards useful coping skills that enable an enriching life.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and young daughter, trying out different coffee shops in hopes of finding the perfect decaf latte, and, if I’m lucky, a weekend yoga class.
