My name is Malinda Wilson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology with a concentration in Law Enforcement from Argosy University, as well as a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. I have worked in most areas in this field, including two behavioral health hospitals (inpatient), as a treatment manager, in private practice, and have taught marijuana intervention classes, anger management classes, and the DWI Safety Education Course. I also worked with probationers for three years.
Currently, I work with ages 12 and up. I pull from many treatment modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing. Additionally, I am trained in EMDR. I have probably worked with most issues clients may face, but I would say my specialties include criminal behavior, law enforcement, eating disorders, LGBTQ+, single parenting, rare diseases, chronic illness, Christian counseling (if requested), couples counseling, adolescents and adults, personality and mood disorders, trauma, and OCD.
Choosing hope and change can feel overwhelming, and one of my goals is to provide you with the guidance and tools to make those a reality. My clients would describe me as compassionate and always ready to help them tackle a challenge. Because of my experience with many populations, the approach I take is one of non-judgment and providing a space where clients can be vulnerable. My greatest desire as a clinician is to help people in their darkest times and recognize that there is hope.
