Connection
This is a much-delayed post! In the Spring, several of our group had the opportunity to visit the Dallas Arboretum together and get some much-needed updates to our team photos. It was a wonderful time of silliness, laughter and beautiful weather (a rare thing in Texas!). It was a good reminder of the deep desire most of us have to connect with other humans. There is a type of magic that happens when you can just laugh and not have to worry about what is happening around you. It also gives you the opportunity to learn about a person outside of the setting with which you typically associate them. For instance, a therapist in our office is more than just a therapist - they can be a person who loves making decorative cookies, walks dogs for fun, enjoys photography or is a struggling student. We tend to see people through one lens or angle, which does a disservice to the whole person by not allowing for one to feel fully seen or known. But feeling known? Being authentic? That’s a feeling worth pursuing.
